Brazilian Serie A market values: The most valuable U21 players in Brazilian football
Long the producer of some of those most mercurial and exciting talents in world football, Brazil has a reputation of being a country fundamentally intertwined with the beautiful game. From Samba stars such as Pelé, Jairzinho, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar and many more, the Brazilian Serie A has been the starting point for some of the very best players throughout the ages.
On December 11, Transfermarkt released the latest market value update for the Brazilian top-flight, and it was met with eager eyes, given the talent stemming from the division and being linked with Europe’s top clubs. The division has a league market value of €1.62 billion. Here, we take a look at the top 10 most valuable U21 players currently in the Brazilian league after the latest update.
1. Endrick - Palmeiras - 17 years old - €45m: European giants Real Madrid sealed a €37.5 million deal last summer to bring the then 16-year-old Endrick to the Bernabeu, but the youngster’s unable to move to Europe until he is 18 due to international transfer law.. Endrick has already scored 17 goals in 60 appearances for Palmeiras, and he only turned 17 in July. To put that into perspective, when goal machine Erling Haaland turned 18, he had scored just 16 goals in 62 games. Endrick became Brazil’s fourth youngest player ever in November.
2. Vitor Roque - Athletico Paranense - 18 years old - €40m: It's a similar story with Vitor Roque, but The Athletico Paranense forward is heading to the Barcelona half of the ‘El Clásico’ rivalry, after the Catalans sealed a €40m move to sign him last summer. Only six players scored more goals than Roque in the Brazilian Serie A this season, and he has already been capped by Brazil.
3. Marcos Leonardo - Santos - 20 years old - €25m: Despite Santos being relegated for the first time in 111 years, Marcos Leonardo was their shining light, and the talented striker seems certain to be sold ahead of next season. The 20 year old scored 21 goals in 49 games last season and has been monitored by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Arsenal and Real Madrid.
4. Luis Guilherme - Palmeiras - 17 years old- €17m: Luis Guilherme has already featured 27 times for Brazilian Serie A champions Palmeiras this season at 17 years of age, and came on in both legs of their Copa Libertadores semi-final defeat to Boca Juniors. The talented central midfielder has been linked with Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
5. Gabriel Moscardo - Corinthians - 18 years old - €15m: Whilst Gabriel Moscardo has only made 24 senior appearances for Corinthians, he is regarded as one of the best young Brazilian talents. The 18-year-old central midfielder only made his debut for Corinthians in June against Liverpool Montevideo of Uruguay in the Copa Libertadores, but he’s already developed into a key player for his club, and several of Europe’s top clubs including Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly interested in a potential January transfer.
6. Lucas Beraldo - São Paulo - 20 years old - €15m: The first defender on this list, Lucas Beraldo has already established himself as a key centre-half at São Paulo. Beraldo, who is aggressive in his play, highlighted by the seven yellow cards he’s received in 24 league appearances this season, has been linked with Liverpool, Newcastle and Leicester this season.
7. Estevão - Palmeiras - 16 years old - €10m: The third young talent from league champions Palmeiras on this list and the youngest, Estevão appears to have a bright future. After making his Brazilian Serie A debut this season, at just 16 years of age he has already been linked with Chelsea and PSG, among other top European clubs.
8. Matheus Nascimento - Botafogo - 19 years old - €9m: Matheus Nascimento made 23 appearances for Botafogo in the 2021/22 season, and the centre-forward didn’t manage to score a single goal. But he did score one goal in five games this season, and his continued inclusion with the first-team at such a young age, proves he is still highly touted.
9. Alexsander - Fluminense - 20 years old - €8m: Alexsander has become an understudy holding midfielder to the highly praised André for Fluminense, and helped seal the club their first ever Copa Libertadores trophy this season. With André touted with many top European clubs, Alexsander could be the next key man in midfield for the Rio De Janeiro based team.
10. Pedro - Corinthians - 17 years old - €7m: The young Corinthians star Pedro has already sealed a €9m deal to Zenit St Petersburg, and will move in February when he turns 18 in February.
