If you can't die, what will happen?
“AGAIN” is a 2D short animation that explores the idea that life is a series of meaningless routines. The protagonist attempts to escape from this endlessly repeating world by committing countless suicides, but he never successes. Even the sufferings are still part of the cycle of repetition. Finally he realizes that inner happiness is the best way to achieve the freedom he seeks.
AGAIN is my SVA graduate thesis work. As a UI/UX designer, I never received any education in animation. But I have a dream in my heart, that is to tell stories with intriguing images. I want to remind people, our life is largely based on routine, and we forget how to enjoy it. I realized that moving images, animation or film, would be the best way to convey this. So I decided to make an animation.
When I started making my own, I took full advantage of my user research experience. I treated my teachers and friends as my clients, showing them my work, receiving feedback and then improving it. I gained the most honest and direct suggestions. This is the story of my animation, but also my life. I keep listening to my audience, exploring new media, to deliver an insightful message to the world.
